Shepherd Harris is proud to support London Peoples Orchestra a local orchestra in the enfield area

London Peoples Orchestra (LPO)

London People's Orchestra was formed on 28 April 2011.

LPO was formed to provide somewhere for local musicians to come and enjoy playing together, without the pressure and minimum standard often required by other amateur classical ensembles.

In September 2012, LPO moved to their current HQ at Oakwood Baptist Church in Southgate, London N14. This was so they could provide excellent transport access for their players, being just a short walk from Oakwood Underground Station on the Piccadilly Line.

The most important thing about LPO is that they are inclusive and take the view that it's okay to make mistakes - that's the way musicians learn. New players sometimes find themselves sitting with a novice on one side and a seasoned professional musician on the other.

Everyone is friendly and encouraging and that's the LPO way.

If you enjoy playing a varied mix of music and you want to learn and develop, whatever your starting point, LPO would love to be able to help you through.

London People's Orchestra rehearses on Thursday evenings during academic term time between 8.00pm and 10.00pm at Oakwood Baptist Church, Merrivale, Southgate, London N14 4TE.

All music is provided, as are interval refreshments, all you need take is yourself, your instrument and a music stand.

Guest players are always welcome to sit in and they are looking for new players of all standards in most of the orchestral sections.

There is no requirement to audition for London People's Orchestra. Simply contact their Director, Martyn Stogden, and arrange a time to come along and visit, to play in, if you wish.

If you would like to go along to a rehearsal to listen first, that's fine too.
